50 Things You Should Know About The Art World: (or at least study for the final exam;)

Over the course of my college career, I've taken several Art History courses and have memorized artists, titles, dates, and the history connected to hundreds -if not at least a thousand-artworks. This is useful knowledge if you wish to teach art, curate a museum, or pursue a career as an Art Historian, but for a non- art-major it's a lot to digest and can seem like information overload.

There are definitly some bits of art knowledge however that can add fuel to a good conversation, help you win Jeopardy, produce an intriguing topic for a research paper, or help you to sound more hip, intelligent & interesting to a potential date, client, or perhaps an employer.

I've paired it down to the 50 most memorable things I have taken from my own Art History experience and created a series of ["top five" / "top ten"] lists in each of the following categories:

     1. Navigating the Art World:
     2. Hip Lingo
     3. Movements
     4. Weird and/or Controversial Art
     5. "Rumor has it..." suprising theories about well-known artists / artworks.
